Errors explained

Tue Nov 25, 2025 5:16 pm

Hello,
We have a ton of Netonix switches in our network and we noticed that during a costing issue between 2 fiber pops that the uplinks to 2 switches had thousands of "errors" as seen on the front tab of the GUI. We resolved the routing issue and the errors went away. We had 2 identical switches in this setup and both only passed errors on the uplink ports for the month we were messing with different routing feeds. These switches are behind an arista. I have another smaller tower that has errors only on the uplink of the switch behind a mikrotik that we have never been able to figure out. My engineer is telling me that those errors are typically defined as CRC errors and we have always treated them as such. So can anybody explain what the errors are defined as? Is it possible a routing "costing" issue could cause these errors?
I also noticed in our snmp monitoring that these are labeled packets with errors.

Yeah, it's like that sometimes, sorry, have been.. well, if my kids would stop breaking stuff, i'd have it made; we are not the world's largest repair department and I have considerable backlog

Got any screenshots? That was certainly a lot coming at me at once and I eat a *lot* of crayons, these days, so please use many more words, sir- pictures being worth exactly 1,000 each

is this FCS errors? they're.. yeah.. *sorta* like crc errors, but only sorta. Persists past jiggling ospf probs. layer 1;

2 distinct individuals in this role, too, or are we still on perp #1 -- yes mangle frames can come from more than one thing
