WS-12-250-ac reboots every 5 minutes

Having an issue where my switch reboots about every 5 minutes. current firmware is 1.5.24. This switch was working fine for several months but is currently unusable. Looking for suggestions. Not sure if I should try to update to 1.5.25 because it might be a problem if it reboots in the middle of the upgrade. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd try opening it and giving it a well-regulated 48v through the pin header; could just be a power supply coincidentally going EOL, unless you're getting a linux crash out the console - if is linux, booting the recovery partition or redboot xcopy recovery are valid options here and covered in detail elsewhere on the forum.

I can provide a binary with instructions to load via flashrom, will need your MAC address sent privately; this approach does require a specialized programming cable but you might have one around or several purchase options exist that are cheaper than shipping, you need something that speaks SPI, like a tigard, SPIdriver, TotalPhase Aardvark, or BusPirate-- flashrom's man page has an entire list of supported programmers but these 4 I've tested.

You can just ship it in, too, I can flash it for you -- probably less stress and waiting for progress bars, but a little more expensive. julian@netonix.com

Thanks for the reply! After posting this I also tried a couple WS-12-250-DC models that I have and they both are behaving the same way. Thinking it's not likely I have 3 power supplies with issues, but I suppose it could happen. Any other suggestions? The DC models are running 1.5.14

Yeah, that's pretty strong evidence for 1.5.25 should be being used, I'm sorry that happened -

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5902&start=10 Stephen wrote a tool to automate redboot recovery, did you try that? Is possible to do manually as well if the tool fails or sits there forever, timing can be kinda picky

For the DCs you will need to open the units and disconnect the 3-wire I2c cable to the internal PSU until after upgrade, then reconnect - this is to prevent more headaches
