WS3 will not fully boot on 48v

Sun Jun 14, 2026 8:16 pm

I am migrating one of my tower sites from 12v to a 48v site. Every time I try to migrate my WS3 to the 48v fuse box it starts to boot then just shuts off. Thought I fried it the first time but as soon as I move it back to the 12v side it is happy. I have attached screen shots of the WS3 and a WS-12-250-DC sitting on the 48v side running without a problem. The WS3 starts to boot, green light, and after about 10 seconds shuts off

Well, sir, something isn't right;

First, the acronyms:
PDU=power distribution unit, whatever you're powering the switch with
PSU=power supply unit, the one internal to the switch

What's the PDU you're using?

I can mimic this exact behavior with my bench supply by limiting current to 1.5A(2 allows it to boot normally); a 'weak' or current-limited output from the PDU means PSU is constantly in a quasi-'inrush' state, with varying degrees of stability as seen;

you'll see it with a voltmeter if this is the case; I think you could try some capacitance between the input lines, help your charger fill the tank; I don't think you should be farting out that low if you want it to run forever though
