I have a rather unusual site in that I want to stick a second mast up - around 450 meters away. So too far for standard ethernet and too far for running AC reliably.. I was rather interested in the fibre+DC cable bundle you were suggesting - presumably with the DC version of the new switch..

What kind of distance are we talking? I'm guessing probably not 450 meters, but I can live in hope.

I think you are referring to the TOWER Switch?

With the TOWER Switch you are limited only by the voltage/current drop which the unit adjusts/trims voltage to compensate but 450 meters should be OK depending on power needs at the far side. At that distance you may not have as much current available to fully load the switch down.

what gauge is the copper proposed for the fiber+power integrated line? This is well understood, we can calculate the drops and maximums. my gut says that at that kind of distance you would want a large gauge power wire pair anyway.

Actually you do better with multiple smaller gauge wires than 1 large copper gauge. We are "looking" at using (6) 12 AWG stranded for DC power and then another wire(s) for earth ground.

12 g sounds good. I currently run 14 gauge 2 pair for 600 ft tower. A little more wouldn't hurt
