What models can power an AF5X @ 200ft (24VH)?

Mon Jul 20, 2015 11:28 pm

Sorry if this has been answered before. I've seen random talks about it. Is it still the WS-8 and the WS-6 mini that have 24VH?

Any plans for more? We are using more and more AF5X in our network and they are all over 200ft.

Thanks

Any plans for rack mounts that would have support for AF5X?

All of the switches can support AF5X with a standard 24V .75A port up to about 160' of cable.

All Models RevA through RevC boards have 24V .75A on any port that capable of also doing 48VH
Ports 1-4 on A models
Ports 1-2 on B models

All models RevD boards which is what we have been shipping for the past couple/few months have 24V .75A on all ports.

All model WS-6-MINI have one port with 24VH option and all .75A 24V ports

All models WS-8-250-AC have 24V .75A on all ports

All model WS-12-250-AC have 24V .75A on all ports plus (4) 24VH ports (ports 1-4)

We will eventually make rack mount ears for the WS-12-250-AC to sell as an option.

But as I said unless you are going over 160 feet of cable on the AF5X a standard 24V port is perfectly fine to power an AF5X and MANY are already doing so.

They may very well power them on longer cable runs than 160' depending on the quality of cable it is just that I have not yet tried it on any cable runs longer than 160 feet at my WISP yet.

I have 6 pair of AF5X on towers less than 100ft just fine. But I have 3 towers that are 250ft-300ft that I have AF5Xs to deploy as well.

Then you want the WS-12-250-AC as it has 4 ports that offer 24VH at 1.5A per port using all 4 pair so you can power AF5X up to 100 meters.

JA, but... he wants to rack mount it. Never fails... somebody always wants something you don't have.
