WS-6 Passive POE Option

Wed Dec 27, 2023 11:58 am

Per the manual:
Port 1 will accept passive 48VH (48-56V) using all 4 pairs like a POE
injector used to power an airFIBER 24 GHz.

DO NOT power the WS-6-MINI with a standard passive POE adapter
that only supplies 48V power on 2 pairs.

Is there a Passive POE injector that will provide voltage on all 4 pairs and provide ethernet back from the switch?
I am looking to power the switch via a Meanwell DDR-120A-24 from a 12V battery bank, and short of running a dedicated power cable up the tower to the switch, I would prefer to inject 48V into the ethernet and pull ethernet back out. Are there any recommended passive injectors? Thanks

How is a 12V battery and 24V power supply going to provide 48-56V to the switch passively?

Tycon Power - https://www.tyconsystems.com/

They have devices that can use 18-36VDC input to provide 4-wire 56V (DC-DC converter). They also have devices that can do passive 4-pair with same voltage out as in if you have 56V available.

A Netonix DC switch (e.g. WS-8-150-DC) can also provide 4-wire 48V from 12V (or, better yet 24+). Add up the cost of the parts and complexity and the DC switches can often be a really clean option.

We sell a POE injector on our site or you can use an AF24 POE injector. Look at pictures and description on store for WS-6
