MODBUS Issues

Mon Feb 18, 2019 9:58 pm

Just wondering if there are any known issues with MODBUS on 1.5.1? I am trying to connect to an ATC traffic light controller and seeing nothing on putty connected to it.

A tail on /dev/ttyS0 in cmdline on the switch shows the output from the ATC controller is getting to there. It seems that ttyS0 isn't linked to the MODBUS TCP?

The current connections are done using a separate serial to ip unit but I'm wanting to migrate on to Netonix switches. Connecting putty to the ip to serial unit is successful and shows me the ATC controller output.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

No issue's right now as far as I know. Can you post a pic of your configuration tab?

Is the ATC controller speaking MODBUS? I'm used to them speaking SCATS protocol. For example, we used Digi port servers with a virtual serial port driver with our ATC SID units (the version of SCATS we had didn't have a direct TCP option for communications).

This brings up an option that would be useful to have: TCP to raw serial with the ability to set rate, bits, and parity. This would be more universal.
Today is an average day: Worse than yesterday, but better than tomorrow.

Thanks Sakita and Stephen!

The ATC is talking SCATS protocol. The SCATS version we are running does have a TCP comms option. Been a while since I was last on this one, but I was just assuming it was talking MODBUS!

So you're right a raw serial option would be awesome!

That's a bit more involved but I think I could get this in. It will probably not be on this next release though.

Have you had any progress on this one? Have a project coming up with the client for 16 sites. Could definitely sneak a switch in at each site!

This project got over-shadowed because of bug's and work on our new products.
Progress had been made though. I'll look into getting it finished.

It is but very low on priority list at this time.

As you know the entire industry is scrambling for semiconductor parts, many times having to look or substitute parts that require code changes. Been a never ending and very costly battle.

Since October 2021 we have only been able to produce 4K+/- units when we normally produce 4-6K per month. So we are producing 1/6 of our normal capacity.
