WISP switch rebooting

Hello,

Our switch running firmware 1.4.8 keeps rebooting but I have no idea why. Below is the output from the syslog. I assume that it is rebooting because of the NTP client starting on Dec 31. I have thought about updating firmware, but I have not had this problem until recently; I don't believe it is a firmware issue. It seems to do this nightly between 4 and 5 a.m. almost every morning although I have seen it do this infrequently during other times.

Log files don't seem to communicate what is causing the reboot.

Log files are not kept in most if not all embedded devices as the memory is cleared on a reboot so the log file would not have information from the cause of reboot.

Beyond that you provide little information to assist you.

What model switch?

How is it powered?

And yes you should upgrade to v1.4.9 especially if it is a SMART DC model - see release notes.

Thanks for the response. This is a WS-12-250A. It is powered via an AC outlet to a UPS.

I don't think that it is a SMART DC model, but you would know that off the top of your head.

Please advise.

No a WS-12-250A is not a SMART DC unit, it is an older AC model.

So I take it this unit has been in service for awhile.

So please post up a screen grab of the Status and Device/Status TABs (see my post signature on instructions to do so)

So how is this unit powered, is it plugged into a UPS, and if so what model?
It is possible the UPS is going bad?

It is also possible the unit is damaged?
It is also possible the power supply is failing? <== Doubt this to be the case

Even though it is beyond the Warranty period we still do repair them so you can RMA it but I would make sure this is not a UPS or AC power blip causing this first.

I don't know what kind of UPS it is, but I will check on my way home this evening. I have other equipment plugged into it and am not having any issues. It is reading normal, no faults or alarms.

I will also upgrade to the most recent firmware release during the wee hours.

I have the same issue. It started a few weeks ago. Replaced the switch with a new one and it just happened again today to the new switch. The previous switch had been in service for nearly two years with no issues. The AC outlet it is connected to appears to be fine. Another switch connected to the same outlet is not having any problems.

Would love to find out what the issue is.

Switch Type: WS-12-250-AC
Firmware: 1.5.0

If it is a power issue from the UPS being weak then it is possible one device would reboot prior to the other if voltage dropped.

Can you plug the Netonix directly into the just a surge strip or a new UPS for a day or so to see.

What model UPS is this?

What all is plugged into this UPS?
