MODBUS pinout on DB9

Tue May 16, 2017 10:47 pm

Hey does anyone know the DB9 pinout, specifically for MODBUS, on the Netonix WS-12-250-DC switches?
I can't seem to get the RTU to work.

Cheers
Dan

OK, next question, do they support RS485 as opposed to RS232?

Cheers

RS232 only

I was a little surprised when you asked for a PIN out when you would normally use a NULL serial cable to connect via standard computer serial port which that in itself would have told you the PIN out being used.

Now you're asking if the switches standard serial interface that connects to a standard serial interface in a computer for console which is obviously RS232 can somehow change to RS485??

Totally different communications requiring totally different chipset to communicate in RS485
