Number of 24VH ports

Wed Oct 26, 2016 4:29 pm

We've been deploying more AF5X radios recently, so the number of 24VH ports is becoming more relevant. Does the WS-12-250-DC offer two 24VH ports or four? The data sheet says four but the unit I was configuring today only allows 24VH to be selected on ports 1 and 2. Sorry if I'm missing something totally obvious.

To get the above links and many more I clicked on the the Magnifying Glass in the Search Box for Advanced Search Options
Search for keywords: +24VH +AFX

Search for author: sirhc (as most answers are by me)

Personally I would power all AFX radios with 48VH not 24VH, read this posts to learn why:

Glenn,

The 12 port DC offers four 24/48VH ports. I just put together an enclosure with a pair of these on a DIN rail going up to a hilltop soon.

Actually Rev F boards no longer support 24VH on ports 1-4 just ports 1-2 as talked about in the posts I linked above.

We took away (2)of the (4) 24VH as the need was decreased with all new AF5X radios and "all" AF2X and AF3X supporting 48VH. We took that money savings and did the following:

1) For Rev F WS-12-400-AC we now support (6) 48VH ports
Rev F WS-12-400-AC will not ship until sometime in December.
We also did this at the request of Verizon Wireless who use our WS-12-400-AC units to power their micro cells in stadiums and convention center.

2) We increased the quality of several components such ESD protection DIODS and increased capacity of Ethernet Transformer which will not take affect until Rev G as we need to use up existing stock which will be awhile. Note some parts we have to purchase 6 months or more at a time with 3-4 month lead times.

If anyone is unfamiliar with the above then please take the time and read the links provided above where it was discussed and why we did what we did.

Thanks for the super-fast replies sirhc and sorry I didn't find the answer before posting. I've learned something there - I didn't know AF5X (except old ones) could use 48VH. So I guess it's easy then - 24V for airMax (non-Titanium) and 48VH for AF5/AF5X.

Yup,

ALL AF2X and AF3X support 24, 48V, 24VH, and 48VH - the proffered option would be 48VH

Only the VERY FIRST batch of AF5X only supported 24V and 24VH

All the AF5X produced since the first batch support 24V, 48V, 24VH, and 48VH.

The preferred voltage would be 48V or 48VH for all AFX radios produce for the past year.

Yea, we are almost through the inventory of Rev E of the WS-12-400-AC and will switch over to Rev F sometime between now and December.

The Rev F WS-12-400-AC will offer (6) 48VH ports but only (2) 24VH ports
