BGP/OSPF....routing ?

Are these "Switches" or "Routers" ?

What we need is switches, with 10 gig ports that we can replace the current WS line that we use (that has 1 Gig ports) !

Hope that hasn't changed?

Sounds good. If the routing implementation begins to take additional time, is there any possibility the product might be sold ahead of time, for those of us primarily interested in its L1/L2 features? Perhaps a "large" firmware update later could include the L3 features? Thanks.

If they want to come out with a switch version that does L3 at some point, that's great.........BUT, most of us that want these have been sitting here waiting for over a year for a 10 gig version (L2) to replace our older WS (1 gig )version switches, so we could upgrade our networks to higher speeds.

I would hope Netonix is not short sighted on what their customers want, and is not trying to bring out something way beyond what is actually needed, and that has been what has held up getting the product ?

The WS3 will still support 10G.

But is the on-going effort to make it work as a Layer 3 device, holding up allowing us to purchase it as a Layer 2 replacement for the current WS units?

Perhaps you’ve done your homework, perhaps you’ve looked at your SWOTs, and determined this was the best way to maintain relevance, and take on others in the space. In our case, we’d rather get a rock solid layer 2 switch with additional POE features and uplink capacity. As the complexity of your offering increases, so will the complexity of the hardware and firmware, thus the complexity of the bugs you will need to chase. I can’t say I’ve come across a recent post on the forum that said, you know, what we really need, what we’re waiting for, is a switch that routes

I'm also a bit confused. We need a L2 switch just like we have now, with 10G ethernet ports and higher power POE. That's what the vast majority have been waiting for I'm sure. We've got routers handling L3 traffic. If you have 10G switches ready that strictly handle layer 2 traffic, please post them for sale!

Agreed. I love the current product, I just need more capacity.
