AF24 - So many errors?

Tue Jun 14, 2016 1:10 am

Hi, just upgraded from Toughswitch to Wisp Switch. 12 port AC.

We have an AF on this switch. Its been installed for an hour or two.

SO MANY errors. i dont recall any errors on the toughswitch (powered by injector), on the WISPsw, it is powered by the 48VH port.

Any one can help? We may be running our fiber circuit near max. this switch is at around 400mbps

we upgraded to 1.4.2rc6 (was this the right firmware to choose?)

Also, the error count does not seem to be growing, could this be due to the fact we powered on the AF at the tower about 1 min before we plugged in the data uplink? could 348661 errors be from just that first min? (it was near peak time when we swaped the toughswitch to WISPsw)

Trying to learn more about these as they will be integral for us.

thanks!

we have no errors on any other ports.

and this AF is working as designed, flow control causing errors?

we didnt go much to the switch.

- update FW
- change password
- add vlans
- set power to each port accordingly
- power cycle
- go

I cleared the counters. 0 errors after about 45 min

any idea why onl y the AF would show so man errors? because it was trying to get data to end users before the uplink was in?

would love to better understand these switches.

Is flow control automatic?

i noticed every device attached is showing arrows in both directions indicating flow control. but not the AF.

Any idea why?

You need to enable Flow Control on the AF radio for Flow Control to come active.

However there is a bug in the AF firmware that can cause a Pause Frame Storm and it is an ongoing debate which models suffer from it.

I have reported many times that AF radios at my WISP record CRC errors when the links fade out from rain and possibly during the boot cycle.

We have a search box on this forum where you can search and read about issue you are interested in.

I would run v1.4.2rc6 firmware on the switch.

Read this thread for starts, the whole thread to get a handle on the debate of Flow Control Bug in AF.

There is also many threads over on UBNT forums about this issue.
Support is handled on the Forums not in Emails and PMs.

We did load 1.4.2rc6 on first boot.

So should we or should we not enable flow control on the air fiber? How will that materially effect speed, and what is the sign that we need flow control active? (I'm left with a bad taste from tough switch flow control)

Thanks!
