Re: WS-12-DC Power Supply Recommendation

I am looking at the Netonix Smart 8 - 150 - DC switch to power 2-4 AF5X radios.
I already bought 2 x 12V 108AH gel type batteries.

As per the recommendations i am looking at the Minn Kota smart chargers.

I wonder if the smaller 1 Bank x 10 AMP will work? as i have read that i should charge the batteries in series to get the power into the switch up to 24V
but i should also connect each battery to a different bank?

So can i buy this one

https://www.amazon.com/Minn-Kota-Precis ... ry+charger

Or should i spring for a 2 bank X 10 AMP device?

thanks

Rene

I recommend AGM over Gel batteries, I like OPTIMA Blue tops.

You hook the batteries in series but the MINKOTA will charge each battery separately.

You want the 2 bank charger and hook each battery up to its own leads and it monitors and charges the batteries separately.

So your feeding the switch 24V (2 x 12V AGM batteries in series) but the charger charges each battery separately, this is why it is called a smart charger.

You need 10A per battery in the event you run the AGM batteries dead you need 10A per battery to recover a fully discharged battery.

I do not recommend fully discharging the batteries by design but in an emergency once in awhile is not going to kill the batteries.
