Powering a Siklu 2200FX (802.3at)

Hey all,

I saw a similar post (topic header was Bad Port?), but felt it was inconclusive on whether or not a Netonix can safely power a Siklu EtherHaul series radio? In my specific case, it's a 2200FX, but I think in terms of its power requirements, it's identical to a 1200 series.

I'm using a 12-250A WISP Switch, can anyone comment on Netonix + Siklu usage? Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of that radio, what pins does it expect what voltage and polarity on?

Ah, that was a question I didn't even know for sure to ask, thank you. I'll find out from them, I don't believe I am finding that info in their documentation yet. By the way, the device is http://www.siklu.com/product/etherhaul- ... and-radio/

Thanks.

PoE+ = standard pinout so should be compatible with Netonix. I would try 48V (not 48VH). From datasheet, Power supply PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at), 13W.

Thanks for your response.

Attached the PoE specs PDF (in a .zip). Siklu engineer was saying it needs at least 45w, 50w to be safe. Also, the 13w you're seeing I believe is the PoE Out that the radio can do (for a camera or similar) but not the PoE In that it requires.

Any additional thoughts/feedback would be appreciated, but I think we'll try the 48V setting tomorrow.
Thanks.

Before you power up this radio, please confirm your vendor that below (from our data sheet) will work ok with their product:

48VH 1.5A pins 1,2,4,5(+) 3,6,7,8(-)

You must use 48VH if the radio needs 50 watts.

Also be aware that there are some ACTIVE POE devices out there that "require" ACTIVE POE which means a PASSIVE POE switch will not power it properly. It will not hurt the device it will just not power up fully.

Attached the technical wiring document for future use -- it does support the pinout Dave mentioned!

Just wanted to close up saying that we proceeded to power up two Siklu 2200FX powered by a WS-12-250A via 48VH and no issues. Average draw on the radios (with our configured settings, etc and matching up nicely to the Siklu datasheet) is right at 39-40w.

Thanks.
