I was moving ports from a ac netonix 12 to a dc netonix 12 and had significant external sparks off the cat5 connector(i believe, obstructed view) as well as smoke from inside. Was running normal 24v to a ubiquiti ac which is now fried. I believe the only way for that to happen is a short between positive or negative pins and shield on the cat5. Unfortunately the fluke tester was not catching it. Probably depended on the movement in the cable. The port still seems to work but in this case what smoked?

No idea but this is another reason why we say do not plug and unplug cables to live ports as this disables POE Smart which will check for cross shorts before turning power on.

Can you please clarify / correct the original post.

In the first section it says:

"There are 4 pairs in an Ethernet Cable:

Pair 1: Green & Green White
Pair 2: Orange & Orange White
Pair 3: Blue & Blue White
Pair 4: Brown & Brown White"

and later on under Common Questions:

"There are 4 Pairs and 8 PINs in an Ethernet Cable:

Pair 1: White Orange.(PIN 1 ) & Orange.(PIN 2) is
POSITIVE

Pair 2: White Green...(PIN 3) & Green...(PIN 6) is
NEGATIVE
Pair 3: White Blue.....(PIN 4) & Blue.....(PIN 5) is
POSITIVE

Pair 4: White Brown..(PIN 7) & Brown...(PIN 8) is
NEGATIVE"

You flop pairs 1 and 2 (Of course pair numbers change depending on T568A vs B). Would be better written if only 1 standard is used in documentation.

As mentioned in the post, p17 of the Spec Sheet is the info I needed, and clear regardless of the standard being used.

Cable Pinouts..

New to power and want to get a confirmation whether this is good logic. So we are wanting to get rid of a non managed switch at a site. I am setting up a netonix ws-8-150AC. I was going over the pinouts on a POE supply i would like to eliminate. We have a Tycon DATA/POE switch on tower being powered by a Tycon POE HP 56g. I would like to eliminate that POE and have the Netonix power the switch. By looking at the pinouts on info sheet and looking through older Netonix posts with power info and which pinouts do what, I would think that im not going to be able to accomplish what I would like to do.

You can power a WS-6 3 different ways (pick 1)

48VH 1.5A passive POE port from another WISP Switch.
48-54V DC POE adapter up to 2A
48-54V DC barrel connector up to 2A

Power adapter NOT included.


We sell barrel adapter or POE adapter separately.

Hi,

I was looking for a Netonix Technical support email but I found this. I would really appreciate if anyone can help me here.

We are a WISP and each of our PoP locations has more than 4 Netonix switches, that power APs, BH etc.

We use Netonix WS-12-250-DC mostly. We have been facing this issue with our Bachhaul (BH) devices Aviat WTM4800 and Mimosa B11, where we have observed BH devices stop consuming any Power. The switch is still accessible through a web interface, and the device on other ports stays up and reachable.


Switch 1 - WS-12-250-DC - has 8 device using 24V .75A each , 1 Device Aviat WTM4800 use 48VH 1.5A.
Switch 2 - WS-12-250-DC - has 1 Device 24V .75A, 3 Device 1 Mimosa B11 and 2 Dragonwaves using 48VH 1.5A.

Avait consumes 62 watts and Mimosa consumes 30 watts, both devices go down sporadically. we had to reseat cables to fix this issue. we have switched ports as well but that didn't solve it.

For Mimosa B11 we switched it to using a POE injector for a while now and never got down again.

Do I need to turn OFF PS for Mimosa B11 and Aviat WTM4800 in NEtonix Configurations ??

Please help me resolve this issue or help me understand if there is any configuration issue.
