Hey Chris - Matt Hoppes suggested I ask you about the temperature on the inside of steel water towers. We have a situation that may require us to use one as a repeater, and we have no experience with them at all. Just need to make sure the equipment will not cook in there. Thanks

We were just reviewing our cabinet Temps from last year.
A similar water tank with the equipment mounted in the base of the tower inside that garage door.
Diller Ave Tank had a hottest recorded cabinet temperature of 82.4F yet we had outside air temperatures of near 100F.
The box is vented with a fan and the water in the tank cools the air as the water is suspended above and the cool air drops. Water temperature from the ground that is pumped into the tank is 52F or below.
There is normally a condensation pan / trap that is suspended below the water containment area to catch the water droplets that form on the bottom of the tank. So long as the door are kept closed the inside temperature is less than outside.

What about cold weather? I'am talking 0 to to -20 F. Dose it get that cold over where you are at?

THe water works in reverse in the winter as the water is now 52F so it is warmer inside the base then outside.
We got down to just below 0F this winter but inside the tower was an east 20+ degrees warmer

No problems here.
Co-located in several water towers.
One tower we have our equipment pretty close to the room they do chlorine mixing. Gotta replace the switch every 2-3 years due to corrosion.

can you seal up the box a bit and draw in some outside air? Positive pressure in the box w/ outside (or 'clean') air should solve your corrosion issue.
