60 boxes/spools of cable is a full 48" x 40" x 48" pallet

Our web store really screws up shipping freight, it gives a really high number, we credit back the difference or we can ship on your UPS freight account just provide UPS account number in the comments section at check out but we get good rates from UPS freight the website just simply does not display it correctly.

Hey all,
I don't even know where exactly to post this, but Ive just made an alarming discovery at one of my tower sites. We installed WispCable single-jacket on the tower about a year ago and while I was out there today I discovered that several sections of the cable were cracked and the foil was exposed. Closer inspection relieved it had become brittle and cracked around several of the bend radiuses.. This is truly alarming as I have MILES of this cable deployed on towers and at customer prems. I'm literally sick to my stomach thinking about everywhere Ive deployed this and what I'm going to do if it fails in the same manner.
Anyone else had this experience?!?!

Sadly this is our second complaint. We had gotten a complaint a week ago and was hoping it was an isolated issue in an install in Texas installed on asphalt in extremely hot environment.
I have just taken it off the website for now, sadly I just got in another container.

If this is a real issue it will pretty much bankrupt RF Armor sadly, I am sick to my stomach.

I really worked hard with the factory in China and thought we had made sure they were providing us their best quality PVC jacket.

We had run it at my WISP for almost a year with no issues before we sold it .

So, can we assume the cable will no longer be available? Needed to order more and notice it was out of stock, then found this, so just wanted to check in and see if there is any further information.

At this point I took it off the market. Even if it is only "some" bad spools how do I know what is good and what is bad? Sadly I just got in a new shipment right before the first report of failure.

I (RF Armor) is Pretty much screwed. I am going to do my best to save RF Armor but we are still paying for the last shipment that I can not sale.

If RF Armor is forced out of business into bankruptcy it will not effect Netonix as they are 2 separate companies, I am only a partner of Netonix whereas since my partner in RF Armor died it is just me.

Maybe I can sale the cable at huge loss to people with the understanding that they should not install outdoor. But for now it will just sit and stare me in the face every day.

I have been in great depression since this whole thing started.

So no, not selling any of the cable.

Sadly the cable fills over half the warehouse and where I set and work I look at pallets of over 1,500 spools every day.

People are mad at me and hate that as I did this to save WISPs a few dollars and I ended up costing them money. I only made about $10 per box of cable when sold to a Distributor so I did not do it to get rich and the way it looks it will consume about 2 years profit from RF Armor just for the cable in the warehouse I can not sell.

I am mad at factory in China but they will not refund anything or replace the cable and I do not have the money to even think about trying to go after them in China.

But I am more mad at myself for even ever doing it.

I feel very bad for you Chris, I know how hard you work and how much effort you put into this. :(

Supply chains in China are a joke. At every step, someone is trying to save a few pennies and undercutting the shop down the street. They know that they just need to deliver great product for a year or two, then they can start cost cutting.

At the same time, outer cable sheath has to cover some of the worst environment extremes. I grew up in Chicago, where even "un-special" wire insulation tended to last for years with no sign of age, same as with most rubber products in general. Then I moved to California. Everything plastic/rubber dies ... quickly! Door gaskets and electrical wiring in cars are the worst, even though they are generally shielded from direct sun exposure.

I think it's the humidity, or lack of it, that dries plastics out much more quickly. Most are based off of hydro-carbon solvents, but still, moisture in the air seems to keep those in place better.

Even though we use outdoor UV rated cable exclusively, we are still happy when we can engineer a solution that puts it inside conduit.

And of course, all of our AC Prism & AF APs still go inside RF Armor boxes.

I am a little late to offer my condolences. I hope you can recover from this. Could you sell your current inventory as indoor cable to recuperate the cost?

Which version of cable were reported? I assume the single jacket. With the double jacket cable, was the inner jacket made of the same UV resistant material? If so, and the failure is due to a job-lot defect, the inner and outer jackets could have been of different job-lots so the second jacket could still provide protection.

Through all the 1000's of feet I have installed of the single jacket I have only had about 200' combined that I have to replace, I do not consider outdoor Ethernet a permanent piece of equipment in Florida climate.
Granted I would never run single jacket on a tower I can understand how it would fail as I have changed many runs to the top of carrier type cables that crack and flood the floor inside after a rain.

Chris I would hope you would reconsider selling with what ever disclaimer you need to put on the cable. With all of the inventory sitting in your way I would like to help you get rid of a few boxes. I have never requested anything except a couple of switch repairs and still consider this Ethernet "Tougher" than any others I have used through the years.

I am sitting on it a bit longer to see how many people have issues.

I do "hope" to sell it at a greatly reduced price with a BIG RED WARNING.

My thinking is a marginal loss is better than a TOTAL loss.

There should be plenty of applications such as in conduits and indoor applications where it would be good.

The electrical characteristics of the cable is VERY GOOD. I was very pleased with the electrical testing we did on the cable.

I figure springtime people will have a chance to inspect more installations.

I would love to recover some of my loss as I am still making monthly payments on something I must stare at every day plus it is taking up a large portion of my warehouse which costs a lot of money each month to rent.

We had been selling it for 2+ years then suddenly this popped up out of nowhere. :headb:
