Passive versus af/at

One thing that sets Netonix apart from Ubiquiti is sticking with passive PoE for both voltages. I wonder what drove that decision? Personally I don't trust af/at auto detection in a hostile outdoor environment where one might get water in the cable, ground potential shift, or where surge protectors could affect the sensing. I don't really think there is a place for auto detection in a carrier network. Leave that to the SOHO and enterprise IT market.

Seem like a decision to target the entreprise market. What I think is that sell must have been slowing down on the WISP market. AC isn't a game changer so I don't really expect WISP to renew their network until AC phase 2 (MU-MIMO). Until then, Ubnt must continue to sell device.
