Im not questioning your posts or knowledge.

Im not trying to RMA anything

Im certainly not crying, just asking for an opinion on why we have been so lucky.

If all ubnt radios had a ground lug the radios would be grounded.

Proper grounding is now on the road map

Did not mean to imply you Travis or anyone in particular, sorry if you or anyone feels my ramblings are directed at them or any specific person, they are not.

I am simply trying to get WISPs to do better grounding practices.

What would you do if a water tower doesn't have a halo system? It just had a single ground from the electrical panel.

I have done several solutions here.

I have added ground rods around the base of the tank, as many as I can but as few as 1 on each side. I then connected them via #2 Green or Tinned copper either above ground with Green or trenched with Tin.

I then bonded them to the Electrical service ground rod.

I put in an insulated ground bus bar where they all meet. I also either Cadweld or bolt the ground to the tower on each side of tank if possible.

I then ran #2 Green up the tower usually with my cables and put in ground bus up top where my antennas are and ran #6 green to each antenna mount.

I also put in a service loop on all of my Ethernet cables to make sure the path to ground from any radio is longer if it takes the Ethernet cable rather than the intended ground path.

I am mostly on municipal water tanks.

I have found that looping the cable several times makes is act like a transformer - it picks up a charge. I do one long "drip loop" of if for some reason I have to coil I go one way (say Clock-Wise) the the other way (CCW).

I really can not comment on what you have seen but personally I apply several loops and do not see any similar issues?

But I say whatever you find is best for you.

But I do tons of grounding including:
All ground rods bonded (tower and electrical service)
Dedicated ground run up tower to isolated ground bus then to all tower mounts and radios.

A coil is seen by the lightning as a choke that creates higher impedance. Long straight runs pick up magnetic inductance.

Long straight parallel runs to the tower are susceptible to induction when the energy is carried down by the tower legs.
