Fan not detected, but it's working

Hi Everybody,

I've had a WS-12-250-DC running at home for almost 10 years, it's been giving exceptional service.

Recently I've been noticing that the fan is running at full speed and there was an error appearing in the log;

eg. Nov 19 09:00:02 switch[827]: Warning: expected 1 fans but found 0
I replaced the fan with a new 24V Sunon fan but the fault is not resolved. The fan is still running at full speed. I can confirm that the fan speed tach signal is visible on the yellow wire of the fan.

It would appear that something else has failed on my switch. Normally I wouldn't be too concerned as long as the fan was running, but these small fans really scream when they are running at top speed.

Has anyone else come across a fan fail fault like this?

Michael.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I'm worried that the expense of an out-of-warranty repair plus shipping Australia-USA-Australia (not to mention the additional headaches in doing the customs paperwork) would potentially cost more than a new replacement unit.

Michael.

Could try swapping fan from other unit if you have one or buy replacement fan or even clean connectors.

Michael, hello from the RMA desk.
This isn't a major repair, but does require smd soldering tiny parts; even if it were a major issue, and I did need to put an entirely new board in, you'd still be pleasantly surprised how the economics work out.
I agree the HTS system as currently implemented is draconian and arcane, but there's no legal basis for any involved government to collect or assess a tariff on this shipment as long as we fill out the paperwork properly.
do please reach out, I'm rma@netonix.com - happy to help
