WS-8-150-DC Wont boot

Wed Mar 19, 2025 5:56 am

Hi all,

I have a WS-8-150-DC that after a IP change and reboot wont boot!!

I have run the Switch repair tool via console but this didn't solve the problem.

On boot it get to this stage and then no further, the ethernet ports work until this point! Also the Eth6 port is active at this point but you can not access the switch or do anything..

Is there anything I can do?

I would try breaking at redboot> prompt (power on, issue control-c via RS232 FAST, like nearly simultaneously, you may miss the first few times, success is marked by redboot> and a cursor) - and issuing, without quotes, backspacing, or special characters, 'fis load -d linux_recovery' <enter> 'go' <enter> first. if this was what you meant by the switch repair tool, forgive my misunderstanding, and read on, sir -

What kind of cables do you have around? I've used a Bus Pirate 3 and flashrom to get around this one, you'll need me to make an image for your specific switch, which is not too big of a deal, but you've got to be comfortable opening it up, the header you need is internal. If so, I can add a procedure to this thread

Sending it over for a reflash is going to be your less hands-on option but obviously carries expenses past a $20 USB adapter and some attention to detail on your end- please, how best may I assist?
