WS-8-150-DC - Error saving configuration!

I have a WS-8-150-DC switch which is not saving configurations changes. The current firmware is a1.5.8.

Attempted changes show in the log:

Jul 18 18:02:11 UI: IPv4_Secondary_DNS: changed from '8.8.8.8' to '8.8.4.4'

When the changes are saved the following error shows up:

Error saving configuration!

Any idea what may be causing this or how to fix it?

Is a firmware update safe or recommended in this condition?

Additional information. A command line "show logs" brings up the ferrors listed below which shows "no free space". A "df" shows nearly identical output as a working unit.
