Best upgrade steps - sorry if this is not correct protocol

Not familiar with your products... We just acquired a company that are using the WS series of your switches. 6 mini up to 26 500 series and models in between... I have been tasked with updating them. Current versions are 1.5.0 - 1.5.2 - 1.5.6... We have spare units in case something goes wrong...
I couldn't find much information in regards to backup and restore from one switch to another with different FW versions. Didn't notice any download options for any versions previous to 1.5.9.
Could I get reassurance and or/steps for the best experience with upgrading these units?
