adairw - VLAN bug report

Sun Feb 01, 2015 1:07 pm

Rory sent you a text so he can hook up with you today and look at your VLAN issue.

We are not seeing any VLAN issues with any of our switches in service, in fact we just did a complete change over on a tower this morning to a new test configuration which totally changed around our VLANs and still have not seen this issue?

IF you have Team Viewer installed on your laptop that would be great as Rory can then get into your switch and run some diagnostics today.

So here is a little update Mr. Winters (adairw) on the work being done.

As you know Rory got into your switch with you.

He was able to recreate your issue on your switch but was unable to recreate the issue on our tower switch which is pretty similar VLAN config.

Rory is now putting your config file on our lab switch to attempt to recreate it.

We sent your config file to Eric who is looking to see if it is corrupt somehow.

We plan to figure this out for you tonight if possible.

Further update Adair

So we have located the bug you reported in the code that was introduced when we added Trunking to the VLAN configuration so it does not affect v1.0.10 final release just the v1.1.0rcX versions with all the new feature sets.

Oddly enough we can not get it to mess up on our tower switches so the bug is not always apparent depending on your particular VLAN configuration.

We also found Joe's bug that affects the v1.1.0rcX versions if you have the switch set do get a DHCP address.

Since Eric and Rory are not football fans they are going to work on this tonight so we can release a fix TONIGHT.

OK, so it seems like as long as there's an Un-tagged VLAN on a port with multiple tagged VLANs, its OK.

If its only tagged VLANs then this issue arises.

There may be other instances where this bug could become an issue but not all VLAN configurations would experience the issue.

This is why our VLAN configuration was not affected.

UPDATE

Sun Feb 01, 2015 7:28 pm

Rory is testing a new RC version that DOES fixe your problem but he is doing some other testing on different VLAN configurations then he will test other features to insure nothing else got broken.

The we still have to finish the DHCP fix that Joe reported but we should have a new release tonight.
