Setting Port names with '[' or '(' characters..

Mon Dec 22, 2014 6:21 pm

Hi,

I have a wisp 250B, Firmware 1.0.9 - I've just set the port names to things like:

NB-32 Northfields AC [3.0]

and

NB-30 Brake AC [2.3] (unused)

I then hit save/apply, and the switch is now unresponsive.

We cannot go near the tower till daylight tomorrow (Its still on test, its only disabled Aircontrol).

Is it a case of avoiding characters like '[' or '(' in the port names? Has anyone else seen this (or do you have more sane naming standards than I?)

Cheers,

---* Bill

To be honest I never tried using brackets and such. I asked the programmer to answer this request in a bit as I am headed out on a date with the wife before I have a date with a divorce attorney as apparently "I have been working too much these past 6 months"-- geesh, woman!

Been there, done that. Go on the date. This issue isn't affecting us - go take her to see 'Notting Hill', get some decent Champagne, Strawberries and get grovelling.. ;)

Always works for me.

Cheers,

You cannot break the switch by entering brackets or any other characters in those fields. There must be a different cause for your problem

Tried on firmware 1.0.9rc3

Cannot replicate.

Was expecting improper field validation/poor handling of escape sequences, but seems to work properly.

Thanks for quickly validating this. The sun is now coming up over rural Scotland - I should be able to get to the tower in the next couple of hours.

Sorry - I was forbidden to access the internet over the holidays. Just back on now.

Yes, I've got my switch back, loving it to bits. I've not implemented the port names using '[' or '(' characters, and I've not had a 'dead stop' failure. Sorry I didn't narrow it down a bit more.

Cheers
