Got a switch here. It stopped passing VLANs yesterday, so I rebooted it and it never came back on. 2 Green Solid Lights inside and the fan running at max. Any advice?

Hook up a console cable and see if it is trying to boot.

Also you can do the BENCH test: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2780#p19221

Otherwise you need to RMA the unit: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1259#p9343

going through the instructions, cd/tmp

changes the command prompt

I need to specify where on the heard drive the recovery file is located

this step seems to be missing here

it's on my F drive

Is the next step, the serial interface program should ask you where it is when you run the command rx

No it did not prompt me for a folder location

Honestly why haven't you guys written some script here and simplified this

or TFTP

So how do I specify the folder location ?

Can you review the step's you've taken so far?

Also, what has occurred that is forcing you to recover this way?

thanks Jakematic, I do not have hyperterminal on windows 7, using Tera Term, used transfer xmodem send, selected file

however after carefully following all of the steps through, in the end after reboot, it came back with checksum failure

which was the original error

this all started as a result of a firmware upgrade 1.5.3 and it failed part way through (not my fault)

so I have a little black brick sitting here with checksum failure still, after recovery

now what

Hello

Netonix needs to create a Firmware Recovery Tool same as Other Companies

Typing these commands is not acceptable in this day and age

Not all of us are Linux Geeks, and I don't need to prove my manhood dealing with this convoluted mess

I have a switch sitting here as a brick with checksum error

Windoze 7 does not come with Hyperterminal, we have to use another program

It would take Netonix a couple of hours to cobble this mess of instructions into a tool and post it

Now I am faced with expensive shipping to return this brick for Netonix to do it

Very frustrating and pointless

After 3 tries to do a console port recovery on WS-12-250-AC, it is still inoperative - checksum failure

attached is the screen shot after reboot

Do I ask for an RMA at this point ?

cable guy,

You're right we do need a tool to make this easier. Especially since HyperTerminal has gotten much more difficult to acquire.

Here is the link to the tool.
