Issue with Copper SFP

Sun Jul 16, 2017 11:05 am

When I inseeted a Copper SFP yeh whole switch rebooted. It then switched off all 48v ports but left 24v alone.

I had to login and re enable.

I tried another SFP. Did exactly thr same.

On 1.4.6

Can you make sure there is no compatible issues between your SFP and switch?

What model of switch (this does not matter really but like to know)?

Should always upgrade to latest firmware prior to reporting an issue but this also should not matter, current version to be running is v1.4.8rc7.

1) I would test the SFP module(s) in another switch or device to insure they work elsewhere.
2) I would test other brand of SFP module.

If not love then RMA.

we have a WS-12-250-DC fw 1.4.7
with Delta LCP-1250RJ3SRI that reboots the switch upon plugging it in. It shows up but will not light ethernet.

A ENET GLC-T-ENC with S/N YA207411 that doesn't show up.

If you are using a DC switch you should be using v1.4.8rc7 (read release notes) for another reason to do with temp sensors and fan control.

I've updated to latest version and trialled it with mikrotik sfps. I am still experiencing odd things

Upon removal. All ethernet ports drop for 10 seconds and the fan speeds up.

OK, have tried a different SFP module, possibly a different MFG?

You could have a bad module.

I tried a Mikrotik Module when this switch got upgraded for a bigger unit and I experience the same issue.

Plug the switch in and boom it drops all data.

Again use a different SFP module, some MT modules do not play well with us.

Just use a generic Cisco compatible SFP module and make sure you test them as outlined in other posts, her is one post: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4876&p=27856&hilit=+sfp+#p27856
