WS-Mini helps us expand into new areas at a very low cost.

We have a customer that has a large 3 story home that has had our service for a year now. We can see about 20 homes in her rural neighborhood, but due to elevation and height of homes, none of the neighbors can see our tower and some of them have been begging for our service. We did try some 2.4 but that was just messy.

We decided to try out a "micro cell" using her roof to hook up more customers.

We used the existing PoE line we had for her NBE-400 and spliced in the WS-Mini with a tycon outdoor enclosure. The WS-Mini is fed with an AirFiber PoE brick, and the WS-Mini powers the NBE-400 as well as the RocketM5 with attached Omni.

We hooked up 1 neighbor that day, and have 3 more scheduled next week already. There are a few homes behind some trees so we may atempt a local 2.4 radio for those nLOS customers, which the MS-Mini will help make easy.

Dude, thanks for sharing this. I honest to God didn't even think about the AF POE! What a great solution!

Nice looking install.

Not sure what you're attaching the switch with bu just drilled holes through the back and used long stainless steel screws with a flat washer and nut on the inside.

We put 2 through holes through all our smaller switches so you can screw them to the wall.

I also put a dab of silicone under the screw head on the outside for a water seal.

You could also mount the switch up on the roof if you wanted to keep it safe from possible theft or children being curious.

I used 3M velcro to attached it to the back to not put any more holes in the enclosure. Some other locations I could see the need to go up top with it, but for this one I know her and her only son is in college now so should be safe and could save us a trip from climbing the roof.

Plus having it outside gives us access to it 24/7 as long as we don't peek in her bedroom. The screw holes are nice though, I sure I'll use those at some point too!

5 years later, same site, same switch still kicking.

Site has been upgraded to AF5xHD backhaul, and AC GEN 2 sector, but, the exact same POE switch is here, still outside in the plastic enclosure, all winter long, all summer long.

We've got quite a few 6 Minis deployed now, just like this. Have only lost a couple over the years!
