Upgrade WISP Switch WS-12-400-AC

Wed Apr 13, 2016 11:17 am

I just placed an order for my third Netnoix switch (WS-12-400-AC). I have been so happy with the first two that we have put into our live network, we are now pulling out all of our TS-8 and TS-5 units in the field. We will only be using Netonix switches for new tower locations as well.

For the smaller locations I will remove the TS-5 units and replace them with WS-6-MINI. I love that I will have the ability to finally do port limiting at a client jump point location.

I will post some before and after pictures of the new 12 port switch change out. I will be doing this hopefully sometime next week. Thanks again Netonix!

Thank you and we look forward to your pictures.

Be careful with the WS-6-MINI and power requirements as our little adapter power supply is only 65W and the AF24 POE brick is only 60W.

If you need more power you can use 3rd party power supplies and or power with a WISP Switch 48VH port for 1.5A + of power.

Also remember to beef up your grounding systems.

Proper grounding was one of the best things I learned for my WISP:

Thank you for the post and the notes. I should be okay using the PA-50V-65W power supply for these jump points. The one I will be changing first has an ISO-400-AC uplink, 3 Rocket M5 units and one client connected port.

The other jump points we have use a single Nanobridge M5 uplink, 1 Rocket M5 and a client connected port. I am not sure I will be changing out the smaller jump points with 1 uplink and 1 Rocket M5 as these will most likely never have enough clients to justify a larger bandwidth push to them.

Finally had time to upgrade to the Netonix Switch at this location. I did not have time to do much of any cable maintenance. We will take care of this at a later date. This new Netonix switch actually replaced a TS8 and a cross linked TS5. I just did not have a picture when the TS5 was in the rack. I left the old TS's there just in case I need to roll back for any reason. These will be removed when we go back to do the cable management.

Looks nice thanks!

Cable Management......what's that, I cannot find that in the WISP Bible? :rofl4:

Look under "Cable Wrangling" or "Fighting the Giant Squid" Image

It sure does help when two switches get replaced with one :D
